Palestinian boy martyred in Israeli raid in northern occupied West Bank

AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli forces have fatally shot a Palestinian teenager during a raid on a town in the northern occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian health officials, in an incident reflecting the recent surge of violence in the region.

The shooting occurred in the town of Salim, located six kilometers (3.7 miles) east of Nablus, as Israeli forces reportedly stormed a local neighborhood on Friday, resulting in clashes.

Israeli troops confronted Palestinians with live ammunition and tear gas canisters.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA, citing medical sources, reported that 17-year-old Abdul Khaliq Musab Jubour sustained a critical chest wound from live fire.

He was rushed to Rafidia Surgical Hospital in Nablus, where he was pronounced dead after all efforts to resuscitate him failed.

Separately, two young Palestinians suffered injuries and bruises on Friday evening after an Israeli military jeep ran over them during a raid on Ya’’bad town in the northern West Bank.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that its teams provided first aid to the injured at the scene before transferring them to the hospital for further treatment.

It noted that the two youths were riding a motorbike at the time of the incident.

The Israeli military initiated its assault on the occupied West Bank on January 21, claiming that the objective was to target the resistance fighters linked to the Jenin Battalion.

Since the beginning of the war on Gaza in October 2023, at least 957 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and settlers, and more than 7,000 others injured in the West Bank.

Last July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declared that Israel’s long-standing occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal, demanding the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds.
